Snæfríður Björnsdóttir developed a passion for music at an early age and began playing the violin when she was 3 years old. She continued to play into her teenage years and had several duos in her teenage years focusing on Icelandic folk music. Her passion for classical music grew into an interest in opera and she began singing and exploring her voice at the age of 19.
After finishing her bachelor degree in music in Iceland, she moved to Copenhagen to further develop her voice. She started studying at the Danish Royal Academy of Music and recently finished her master’s degree in classical singing under the tutelage of Eva Hess-Thaysen. Furthermore, she has worked with a diverse group of coaches to fully reach her potential. Worth mentioning are Berit Johansen Tange, Christian Sereno as well as Ulrich Stærk.
Her style of music is diverse and raging from classic arias, heartfelt Icelandic leads as well as more upbeat modern music from Leonard Bernstein. She has also worked closed with composers and have had works composed for her specifically - Technoopera which she is touring with is an interesting example of process.
